About oterm

oterm — Orbisius Terminal is a fast, keyboard-first, cross-platform terminal for
advanced developers and DevOps engineers. It's part of the Orbisius "o" family of
developer tools, alongside ogit and ozip.

  • Vision — what oterm is aiming for: simple,
flexible, and a real boost to developer productivity
  • Sponsors — who supports the project

oterm

oterm exists because most terminals make you fight them: combining tabs is awkward,
moving a session to another monitor is painful, and your carefully arranged layout is
gone the next morning. oterm remembers how you work and gets out of your way.

Design principles

Two rules decide every UX call in oterm; when they conflict with a feature, the
feature changes.

  1. Intuitive — obvious without a manual. An action lives where you'd reach for
it: right-click the thing you mean, or find it in the menu under the noun it
belongs to. Destructive actions confirm; everything else just happens.
  2. Fast — never make the user wait or aim. Keyboard first: every common action
has a shortcut. Nothing that touches the terminal blocks the UI, and re-layouts
    never restart a shell.

Licence

The oterm you download today is the free version — free for personal and
commercial use. No account, no licence key, no seat count — install it on every
machine you work on, including at work and on client projects. Anything you build
with it is yours.

We're planning to launch optional paid plans in the future with some cool,
advanced developer features on top. The terminal itself stays free.

oterm is closed-source and distributed as a compiled binary; bundled open-source
components keep their own licences, listed in the app under Help → About.
